About the Digital Library of Catarinense Literature
A project born at NUPILL - Núcleo de Pesquisa em Informática, Literatura e Linguística and LAPESD - Laboratório de Pesquisa em Sistemas Distribuídos, the Digital Library of Portuguese-language Literatures is the largest existing database of Brazilian and Portuguese literary history, open to users with widely varied interests, from the casual reader to the specialist researcher.
In addition to consulting the digitized works, it is possible to access a catalog with biobibliographical data of Brazilian writers and writers from other Portuguese-speaking countries; documents from the personal collection of some writers from the State of Santa Catarina are also available. Our database is a rich source of research on literary history, making it possible to conduct research on writers, published works, dates of publication, publishers, genres, and more. It is important to note that the digitized works are fewer than those whose information is also available.
Our proposal is to create an environment for reading and teaching/learning literature, by using the digital library, including an annotation tool. Any user can use the Library and the Digital Database, without needing to register or sign in with username and password. However, for those who register as users and sign in with username and password, the possibility opens up to make annotations on the digitized works being read. Anywhere in the world, at any time, this reader, when entering the Library with their username and password, will have access to the annotations already made and may make others.
Portal Catarina is a continuous activity, that is, we are frequently adding and correcting data, since they are always subject to omissions and inaccuracies. Therefore, we would like to ask for the collaboration of all users to improve the data, sending us any questions and suggestions they find relevant (nupill.ufsc@gmail.com).
